Liguria and its villages

itineraries to discover the jewels of our region

Liguria is not only a destination for summer and beach tourism, it is a region to be discovered in all seasons of the year.

Spring is approaching and with it also the beautiful days, which allow long walks through the streets of the villages or interesting bike routes, to discover the wonderful villages that dot our beautiful region.

We have selected some itineraries to discover ancient villages, both on the coast and inland, to get in tune with Liguria and its hidden jewels.

From beaches to mountains in the hinterland of Tigullio

The first route that we want to suggest starts from Moneglia and touches several stages up to Santo Stefano d'Aveto: Riva Trigoso, Sestri Levante, go along the beaches of Cavi, and arrive at Lavagna. After crossing the Entella river, you enter Chiavari, then Mezzanego and Borzonasca. At the Forcella pass, you enter the Aveto valley and arrive in Rezzoaglio. A little further on, take the SP 86 on the right and after an uphill path take the Provincial road to the left that reaches Santo Stefano d 'Aveto. The return takes place by retracing the road backwards, passing Rezzoaglio and continuing up to Parazzuolo. Here you go up to the Scoglina pass and continue with the descent towards Favale di Malvaro and then to Monleone towards Fontanabuona, follow it to the left, south-east up to Pian dei Ratti, then pass Coreglia Ligure and go up towards the ridge which overlooks the Gulf of Tigullio and then descends to Rapallo.

Mediterranean nature and rural feelings in Val di Vara up to Sestri Levante

From the sea of Framura, you go up through pine forests and villages guarded by ancient watchtowers towards the blue horizon of the sea and towards the distant white peaks of the Apuan Alps. Follow the Aurelia east to Mattarana, towards Ziona and Ponte Santa Margherita on the Vara river. Going up the course you get to San Pietro Vara and from here you get to Varese Ligure, the center of the upper Val di Vara, land of agriculture and organic farming. On the way back we return to San Pietro Vara, passing the tunnel of Velva. Descend along the Petronio valley, touching the centers of Castiglione Chiavarese and Casarza Ligure and then Sestri Levante, where the itinerary ends.

Enchanted places and legends behind the Cinque Terre

From the village of Vernazza we head towards the hinterland; after passing the ridge, you begin to descend towards the woods of the middle Val di Vara up to the village of Pignone. From here we continue along the Vara river through woods that conceal small caves of naturalistic and historical interest, through the villages of Casale and Villa. You arrive near Borghetto di Vara: in the center of the village on the left begins the Provincial road to follow towards the motorway exit to pass it and reach the historic center of Brugnato.
